UK Garage

UK garage (also known as UKG) is a genre of electronic music originating from England in the early 1990s. London DJ who liked the garage style decided to create their variant of garage sound with characteristic cut in a half bass line. The new sound was named as speed garage or UK garage (after the country, where the style was born).

The remix by Armand Van Helden on CJ Bolland`s «Sugar is Sweeter» became a composition that defined rules of speed garage`s sound. The sound was so new that was perceived as something revolutionary, which attracted youth artists and listeners.

That`s why the UK garage scene is full of young musicians. The style became a worthy alternative to the techno and house styles.
